Lamplighters Touring Choir to serve in Romania

Teghan Simonton May 8, 2019

The Waynesburg University Lamplighters Touring Choir will serve at the Caminul Felix Orphanage in Romania this summer. Led by Sora Lee and Melanie Catana, director of choral music, 20 students will depart Wednesday, May 8, and return Friday, May 17.

While in Romania, students will offer benefit concerts to raise funds and awareness for the orphanage. They will also assist in painting houses and maintaining the grounds of the village. Catana said she is looking forward to seeing students interact with the children and form new friendships.

“Going there and getting to know the people who grew up in these cities will be life-changing,” Catana said. “They have been through the many difficulties of communism and this will be very eye-opening.”
