Waynesburg University hosted its annual Homecoming weekend Oct. 4 and 5. During halftime of Saturday’s football game versus Thiel College, Harrison Scott and Heidi Dziak were named the 2019 Homecoming King and Queen, respectively.
Scott, son of Harry and Susanna Scott of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, is a senior biochemistry major. He is also pursuing minors in music and business management. Scott, a Stover Scholar, is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Medical Student Association and Gamma Sigma Epsilon Chemistry Honor Society.

He plays French horn in the Symphonic Band and sings in the barbershop quartet. He is also a testimony coordinator for Upper Room, the University’s student-led worship service, and head of Kairos, a spiritual retreat leadership team.
Scott routinely volunteers in the pediatrics unit at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, and is a part-time piano player for First Presbyterian Church in Waynesburg.
Upon graduating in May 2020, Scott plans to pursue medical school and eventually become a family medicine or emergency medicine physician.
“I am so thankful for the friends and faculty who have supported me, who have been part of my home away from home at Waynesburg,” shared Scott. “I'm also thankful to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as I would truly not be where I am today or who I am as a person without Him. Congrats to the Homecoming Court!”
Dziak, daughter of Douglas Dziak of Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, is a senior accounting major. She is a member of the Sting Swing Club, where she has been the treasurer for two years and the Relay for Life co-captain for two years.

Throughout her time at Waynesburg, Dziak has served as a Fiat Lux mentor, Resident Assistant, Waynesburg University Student Ambassador and a leader for Project Linus, a group dedicated to providing blankets to children in need. She was also the historian and secretary for the Lamplights Touring Choir.
She is the 2019 Mosaic Wealth Scholarship Recipient and a 2019 Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) Student Advocate.
Her future goal is to complete an MBA in finance and obtain a CPA license to become an auditor and, later, an accounting professor.
“I’m so thankful to have been chosen as the Homecoming Queen here at WU, for it is a dream come true,” said Dziak. “It makes my heart so happy to represent this special place and to see that I have impacted so many people in my time here.”
The Yellow Jackets secured their first win of the season by defeating Thiel 14-13.
Other Homecoming events included the 23rd Annual Waynesburg University Homecoming 5K Run and Walk, the 50th-anniversary brunch for the Class of 1969 and the All-Alumni Celebration and Combined Class Reunion at Lone Pine Country Club.
