A new permanent digital exhibit, the Dr. Barbara (Baugh ’60) Packard Extraordinary Women of Waynesburg University Exhibit, will recognize women whose leadership, perseverance and commitment to service have left an enduring mark on their communities, Waynesburg University announced today.
The evolving exhibit will be housed in Hanna Hall and will be available online, preserving the stories of extraordinary women across generations of the Waynesburg University community. Established through the vision and generous lead support of Dr. Barbara (Baugh ’60) Packard, the exhibit honors the University’s long history of providing post-secondary educational opportunities for women. This Exhibit was also made possible with the support of Ms. Diane Hughes ’74, MBA ’86 and Dr. H. Matilda Horst ’70.
Dr. Packard enjoyed a decorated career at the National Institutes of Health, retiring as Assistant Surgeon General of the United States with the rank of Rear Admiral in the United States Public Health Service. Through her support of the initiative, she hopes her story and generosity will inspire future generations of Waynesburg students and alumnae to pursue their goals with the same perseverance demonstrated by her and countless other women.
The University invites nominations for the inaugural class of honorees, who will be recognized at the 2027 Alumnae Luncheon, held annually in September, and the President’s Donor and Scholarship Recognition Dinner, held in the spring.
From alumnae and current students to faculty, staff, trustees and community partners, the Exhibit will recognize women whose enduring contributions reflect the University's core values of faith, learning and service. Through their achievements and personal journeys, these honorees will serve as examples of how determination, ethical leadership and a commitment to others can transform lives and communities.
Waynesburg University invites members of the University community and the public to nominate extraordinary women whose accomplishments, character and service reflect the values of the Exhibit.
