Waynesburg University’s Department of Nursing held its annual Pinning Ceremony for December graduates Saturday, Dec. 2, at Roberts Chapel on the University’s campus. President Douglas G. Lee began the ceremony with opening remarks.
The Pinning Ceremony is an annual tradition that signifies the completion of the nursing program.
“The Pinning Ceremony is a time where we as nursing faculty formally ‘welcome’ the student nurses into the profession,” Dr. Sherry Parsons, chair of the Department of Nursing, said. “The pinning ceremony signifies the transition from student to nurse.”
Graduates will still have to pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) before they can officially begin working as a nurse in the field.
