Waynesburg University has announced Mason Lewis as one of six recipients of the full tuition and fees Founders Scholarship for 2023.
Lewis is the son of David Lewis and Wendy Lewis of Peters Township.
"I am honored to be selected for the Founders Scholarship," said Lewis. "I am so grateful for this opportunity, and I thank God, my family, teachers, coaches and friends for supporting me and pushing me to succeed."
Lewis will graduate from Peters Township High School later this spring.
He is a National Honor Society and Spanish Club member and serves as a Peters Township High School Ambassador. Lewis is a leader for both Spanish Club and the ambassador program.

Academically, he is an AP Scholar with Distinction.
Outside of class, Lewis plays soccer and runs track for Peters Township. This year, he was the soccer team's varsity captain and was named to the Big 56 4A Soccer Second Team.
Lewis also plays soccer for Beadling Club Soccer on the 2005 Boys Elite 64 team and is a youth soccer coach in his community.
In the fall, he will begin Waynesburg's Engineering – Three/Two Program (Mathematics Major). He will also play soccer for the Yellow Jackets' men's team.

Other recipients of the Founders Scholarship for 2023 include Isabella Griffith, Diana Hernández, Waverly Lorne, Ethan Mata and Amanda Sweeney.
The Class of 2027 will matriculate into the University August 25.
