Schmadel is an avid golf and lacrosse athlete and has participated on her high school’s team each year. She has also been involved in her school’s National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and is currently participating in Bloomsburg University's Early College Program, where she is earning college credits during her senior year.

She participates in many community activities such as being a leader in the Community Giving Foundation’s Youth in Philanthropy program, attending the National Student Leadership Conference for Forensic Science held in Washington, D.C., and engaging in Waynesburg University’s annual CSI Camp.

“I feel very grateful and blessed to receive this prestigious award and I'm looking forward to playing an active role both on and off campus,” commented Schmadel. “My hope is to actively engage in every aspect of their service community.”

Schmadel plans to major in forensic science during her time at Waynesburg University. She also intends to join the women's golf team.
