Senior Reflection: Alison Landon

Alison Landon May 19, 2026

I first heard about Waynesburg through a family friend and was encouraged to apply for the Jeffrey and Regina Taussig Ohio Honors Scholarship. After I applied, and ended up receiving the scholarship, I then had to face my fears of leaving my family and friends in Ohio and moving to Pennsylvania. I knew that if God allowed me to receive this scholarship, then Waynesburg was going to be the right place for me.

Throughout my time at Waynesburg, I have learned so much through my classes, but I have learned even greater lessons from my professors and friends along the way. As an environmental science and biology double major and a chemistry minor, I became extremely familiar with all the professors in those subjects. I have been pushed academically in all of my classes but have had so much guidance along the way.

I have already accepted a position as a Field Environmental Compliance Specialist at Range Resources in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Waynesburg introduced me to Range Resources my sophomore summer. I was told I should apply by the head of the biology department, and ended up spending two summer internships there, and now going to work there full time after I graduate. I feel that Waynesburg has prepared me professionally to jump into the workforce right after graduation.

I have made so many lifelong friends, amazing mentors, and great memories during my time here at Waynesburg. My advice for younger students is to work hard and set yourself up for your future, but do not forget to have fun along the way. I will forever be thankful God guided me to pursue my college career at Waynesburg University.
