Our graduate education program provides practical experience and personalized instruction to teachers who embrace learning and dedicate themselves to service and leadership in the profession. We offer a number of options to earn a Master of Education with a specialized focus, as well as a five-year dual degree and certification program (Bachelor to Master). Students can focus their studies in special education, autism spectrum disorders, online teaching, instructional technology, or supervision and curriculum leadership. All classes are available 100% online.

Autism Spectrum Disorders Endorsement
MEd with Concentration in Autism Spectrum Disorders
Successful completion of this program makes a student eligible to add Autism Spectrum Disorders Endorsement to their PA Instructional Certificate. Combine seven core education courses with courses in the specialized area of autism spectrum disorders, including, autism etiology and characteristics, behavioral analysis and interventions, and communication and social competence for students with autism spectrum disorders.
MEd with Concentration in Curriculum and Instructional Leadership
Define and refine the future of education. Students combine seven core education courses with courses in the specialized area of curriculum and instructional leadership, including, school and community relations, supervision, and management.
MEd with Concentration in Online Teaching
Grow education’s reach and your personal professional opportunities with digital platforms. Students combine seven core education courses with courses in the specialized area of online teaching, including introduction to educational technologies and multimedia and integrating technology with teaching and learning.
MEd in Instructional Technology with or without Specialist Certification
Explore the theory, practice, design, and development of emerging educational resources. This concentration is achievable with or without specialist certification. Without certification requires courses in advanced multimedia, instructional design and curriculum development, and educational research. With certification requires additional courses in the English language learner and content area instructional strategies as well as a practicum experience.
MEd in Special Education with Special Education Certification
Successful completion of 30 credits required for special education certification plus an additional six credits of study will garner the academic criteria needed to add special education certification to an existing teaching certificate as well as the formal master’s degree.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education awards special education certification with a focus on either grades 4-8 or 7-12, depending on the undergraduate major. Field experiences are embedded into some coursework requirements, and students complete a practicum, which is similar to the experiences in student teaching but for a shorter duration.
Special Education Certification
Designed for professionals who already hold a teaching certificate and seek to augment their expertise by working with students who have special needs. Receive instruction regarding the nature of students with disabilities, factors that affect those students, and techniques and strategies to guide those students to achieve their fullest academic potential.

Autism Spectrum Disorders Endorsement Program
Current Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate holders can study to earn the autism spectrum disorders endorsement in this 12-credit program, which is available fully online. Study autism etiology and characteristics; behavioral analysis and interventions; and teaching, communication, and social competence for students with autism spectrum disorders.
As more education programs shift to include an online component, the need for online instructors will become more prevalent. This program is a perfect complement to any education or business degree. Learn effective strategies for teaching online, contemporary issues in technology, and how to integrate technology with teaching and learning.
Dual Degree and Dual Certification (Bachelor to Master)
Waynesburg University undergraduate education majors can participate in a dual degree and certification program to earn their Bachelor and Master of Education degrees in five years of study.
