Senior Reflection: Emily Barker

Emily Barker Jun 15, 2026

Waynesburg University quickly became home to me, and the people I met there became family. My story has been positively influenced by the four years I spent at Waynesburg University. It is a place where you can discover identity, purpose, and connection.

The community at the university is unmatched. I have built lasting relationships ranging from friendships to mentorships. The students, professors, staff, and administration are genuine people who care about the wellbeing of others.

I also experienced a top-ranking education in criminal justice. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice administration and minors in forensic investigation and political science. Each department has experienced and highly qualified professors who are exceptionally gifted in teaching. I connected on a personal level with all of the professors in my field of study. I will continue my education at Duquesne University's Thomas Kline School of Law, and I believe that my courses at Waynesburg University have prepared me for law school.

I was most impacted by the faith aspect of the university's mission. I truly believe that God is present at Waynesburg University. I experienced growth in my Christian faith through student led Bible studies, student led worship and testimony at Upper Room, weekly chapel services, and campus ministry events. The Christian community I encountered at the university has changed my life forever.

Waynesburg University will always be a piece of who I am. The four years I spent in Waynesburg were the best years of my life, and I am leaving the university a totally transformed individual. If I could do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat, and I would not change a single thing.
