“We are honored to welcome Mr. Jarrell back to the Waynesburg University campus community,” said Waynesburg University President Douglas G. Lee. “His experiences here and throughout his career uniquely qualify him to serve in this role with purpose and a steadfast commitment to advancing our Christian mission.”

In his new role at Waynesburg, Chaplain Jarrell will provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care to students, faculty and staff, promoting a Christ-centered environment consistent with the mission and values of the University.

He will also oversee chapel programming, support spiritual development initiatives, encourage faith integration across campus life and work to expand Waynesburg University’s outreach initiatives.

“I am humbled and honored to return to my alma mater,” Jarrell said. “Waynesburg is a special place with special people. It is a privilege to follow and build upon the legacy of not only Chaplain Sumpter but generations of incredible faculty, staff and students at Waynesburg. It’s a joy to be home.”

Jarrell is an alumnus of Waynesburg University and previously served the University in various capacities from 2014 to 2018, including as resident director, adjunct instructor, assistant director of campus ministry, and men’s lacrosse co-head coach.

During this same timeframe, he co-founded and served as Staff Pastor for The Foundry Church in Morgantown, West Virginia, where he co-led discipleship programs that led to a 300-member congregation within four years.

In his most recent role as Youth Pastor & Hospitality Director at The Table Church in Pittsburgh, Jarrell led the growth of youth ministry from 8 to 50 students in three years, including services, events, and mission trips.

He also previously served as Office Coordinator for the Career and Calling Center for Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, where he led career development initiatives serving more than 4,000 students and global alumni.

Mr. Jarrell holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Waynesburg University, as well as a Master of Arts in Ministerial Leadership from Southeastern University.
