About TTI

The Transformative Teaching Initiative (TTI) is a professional learning experience for Methods instructors that integrates inquiry with primary sources into teacher preparation courses. The program blends online learning with an in-person capstone experience and leverages the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) program.

What Participants Experienced (2025 Cohort)

  • Six free online synchronous sessions focused on inquiry with primary sources, instructional design, and supporting diverse learners.
  • A 2.5-day in-person workshop at the Library of Congress to deepen learning and collaboration.
  • No cost to participants. The TPS Eastern Region covered a three-night hotel stay and reimbursed travel and meals at the Federal Per Diem Rate.

Note: These supports reflect the 2025 cohort and are provided here as a reference for future planning; specific details for a future cohort may vary.

Who Should Participate

Instructors eager to explore new strategies for engaging future teachers—especially those new to the Library of Congress TPS Program—are encouraged to apply for a future cohort. Final selection prioritizes diversity in:

  • Geographic location
  • Size and type of academic institution
  • Academic disciplines
  • Grade focus
