Exceptions to Requirements for Degrees

Exceptions to degree requirements are not generally made. However, exceptions are in order if extenuating circumstances warrant. A request for waiver or substitution of courses or requirements for a major may be made by the student’s advisor and department chair.  The request must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office prior to the semester in which the student anticipates graduation. Exceptions to regulations governing general distribution requirements and overall requirements for the degree may be made only through petition to Academic Affairs for resolution or referral to the Academic Standards and Procedures Committee. All exceptions will be recorded in the student’s file in the Registrar's Office and applied at the time of graduation.
